Full review

Cillit Bang Power Cleaner Grease & Sparkle is the UK kitchen-grease workhorse, full stop. When you need to defeat actual built-up grease. Extractor hood, hob grates after a roast, oven door exterior, behind the cooker. Cillit Bang is the product that handles it in <5 minutes of contact time with minimal scrubbing.

The “no-scrub” claim is genuinely accurate for moderately-built-up grease. For seriously-baked-on residue (months of neglect), you’ll still need to scrub, but the chemistry breaks down the grease layer so the scrubbing actually works.

The strength comes with practical caveats. The fragrance is aggressive, open a window. The formula will damage some painted surfaces and isn’t recommended on aluminium; test in a small area before committing. Don’t use as a daily spray (you’d damage the surfaces over time and the smell isn’t worth the regular exposure).

At 47p per 100ml on the 750ml bottle, it’s no more expensive than Mr Muscle by volume. But because Cillit Bang is a specialist tool used for once-a-fortnight cleaning rather than daily, the bottle lasts much longer, most households go through 750ml in 8–10 months. That’s the right way to think about its real cost: roughly £4 a year for the kitchen grease arsenal.

Subscribe & Save is enabled but probably not worth setting up, the bottle lasts so long that you don’t need recurring delivery.

The product also handles oven-door exterior glass and microwave interiors well, though for serious oven interior cleaning you want Oven Pride or Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner instead.

Buy this if: you cook regularly and need a kitchen degreaser that actually works on the build-up that develops on hobs and extractors.

Skip this if: you only cook occasionally (Mr Muscle Kitchen handles light grease), or you want a daily-use spray (Cillit Bang is too aggressive for that).
