Full review

Cillit Bang Limescale & Shine is the value pick in the limescale-remover category. Meaningfully cheaper than Viakal, with a similar (slightly weaker) formula and a larger bottle. For moderate limescale that doesn’t need Viakal’s full strength, it’s the right starting point.

The formula handles light-to-moderate limescale on glass shower screens, taps, showerheads, and bathroom tiles. Reliable in 5–10 minutes of contact time. The “no-scrub” marketing is broadly accurate for moderate cases. The formula does most of the work, with a wipe at the end.

Where Cillit Bang falls short vs Viakal: the very worst limescale (years of build-up on a shower screen, or heavily-encrusted showerheads) won’t fully clear with Cillit Bang. You’d either repeat the application or step up to Viakal.

At 47p per 100ml on the 750ml bottle, it’s roughly two-thirds of Viakal’s per-volume cost. For a household that uses limescale spray weekly, that adds up to meaningful savings over a year.

The fragrance is the most aggressive of the limescale removers in this guide. Cillit Bang doesn’t try to disguise its chemical nature, the smell is heavy and unmistakable. Ventilation matters; don’t use in a small enclosed bathroom without opening a window.

Same surface restrictions as the other limescale products: no natural stone, anodised metals, or acid-sensitive surfaces. The Cillit Bang bottle includes the standard caveats.

Subscribe & Save at 10% off is a sensible setup if Cillit Bang is your default limescale product.

Worth noting: Cillit Bang’s marketing is louder than its product is good. The “Bang” branding suggests miraculous performance; the actual chemistry is solid-but-not-exceptional. Manage expectations and you’ll be satisfied with the value.

Buy this if: you have moderate limescale issues and want a budget-friendly daily/weekly product.

Skip this if: the limescale is entrenched (use Viakal or HG instead), or you have a small bathroom without ventilation.
